(03.06.12) VIVACOM turn Sofia center into free WI-FI zone

Telecom launches free Internet access on Vitosha blvd and Slaveikov sq as part of its strategy for widespread distribution of free Internet access

Sofia, June 3, 2012 - From today VIVACOM turns Sofia center of free Wi-Fi zone. Two of the most densely populated and visited locations in the capital - all pedestrian part of Vitosha boulevard and Slaveikov square - become free internet space for anyone who needs a fast and convenient connection to the global network. The service is absolutely free for everyone - no password or code is required and the users do not have to pay for the traffic they generate.

In such a mobile Internet zone with free internet access turns also one of the longest bus lines in Sofia, which connects Mladost and Lyulin - bus line 111. This was announced by the mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, during the official opening of the free Wi-Fi zones yesterday. Passengers can use the free internet access during their journey in each of the buses serving the line.

These new free Wi-Fi zones are part of the telecom strategy for wide coverage with wireless Internet of the public places and become part of nearly 2,500 locations in Bulgaria, which VIVACOM has turned into free Wi-Fi zones.

With this strategy, the mobile operator aims to facilitate at most the access to information for everyone. This as well will help to implement the European practice for Internet access of citizens anytime, anywhere. If free internet in public transport is greeted positively by the citizens, the telco is ready to expand the project and the rest of the lines covering the capital.

Among the most popular places in VIVACOM turned into free Wi-Fi zones are all 200 stores of the telecom, Sofia Airport, the five largest rail stations in the country (Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas and Gorna Oryahovitsa), coaches lines and the cars of the taxi companies. In Sofia, in cooperation with Sofia Municipality VIVACOM turned four parks Sofia Swan Park, Holy Trinity, St. George (the Five Corners) and Bukata Park (at Bath Madara) as well as Metropolitan Medical Center Clinic 6 - Ilinden into free Wi-Fi hotspots.

For the opening of the free Wi-Fi zone in the center, the telecom organized free concerts of famous singers on Sunday, June 3. Krista, Angel and Moses, the world famous beatboxer Skiller rappers Bobo and 100 Kila will sing at various locations on Vitosha Blvd and Slaveikov sq. throughout the afternoon and will end with a concert on Vitosha blvd. at 19 hours.
