The involvement of VIVACOM in the first contemporary dance festival in Bulgaria is in line with the company policy to support valuable initiatives that are new for Bulgaria and to enrich the country''s artistic life by placing it at the European cultural map.
The telecom traditionally supports innovative initiatives like Sofia Dance Week, that present novelty art for Bulgaria while showing the best world experience. The telecom participates in this ambitious project because it considers as very useful the events that establish new trends in our country''s cultural life.
Sofia Dance Week is the first festival of such magnitude and nature in Bulgaria and it presents the latest world trends in modern dance art. The ambitious programme has the objective to turn the initiative into a prestigious and key cultural event in Bulgaria and the festival to take a steady position in the world cultural agenda and to become a landmark event in Europe''s annual calendar.
Sofia Dance Week was held for the first time in 2008 with the support of VIVACOM and it presented seven of the best European dance companies and performers - inspiring international shows that were included in the same year''s selections of the most prestigious modern dance forums in Vienna, Lyon, Istanbul, Berlin and Belgrade. Along with their European colleagues, two Bulgarian projects also took part in the festival and they enjoyed great success.
In 2009 the International Dance Art Festival was organised for the second time in Bulgaria again with the support of the telecom. This time, too, the participants in the festival programme were some of the most popular dance ensembles.
More than 20,000 spectators gathered at the unique performance thus making the Sofia Dance Week the most memorable and discussed week of the country''s cultural programme.
It is not by chance that VIVACOM chose exactly a dance performance for the occasion of presenting its new corporate brand thus changing the appearance of its most emblematic building. In the context of evolution of telecommunications and development of the biggest Bulgarian telecom, the French from Compagnie Les Passagers changed the appearance of the Telephone Palace, which is one of the most prominent buildings in Sofia, the symbol of BTC. This act reflects the company''s consistency in the field of cultural projects and is yet another manifestation of the change of BTC from a technical to a modern, efficient and dynamic company being closer to the customer.
